Description: Christians have the ability to deal with death differently than the way the world does. That is often reflected in the way the world grieves. They have no hope beyond the grave. Believers, on the other hand, have an eternity of rest to look forward to. Our resurrection is based upon Jesus’ resurrection.

Description: Paul begins this chapter in 1st Thessalonians with the fact that he could not wait to see how they were doing so, he sent Timothy to check on them. Paul was concerned about the trials the church in Thessalonica was facing and even how they were dealing with his own trials and imprisonments. He had told them while he was with them that the trials would come, and they certainly did, but he was thrilled to find out that they were doing very well in the Lord!

Paul had been accused of deceitful error, underhanded methods of preaching, and he wanted to set this straight! Paul considered what he was doing a “stewardship” of God’s word and did not want to distort or misrepresent the Lord in any way.

Description: 1st and 2nd Thessalonians are two of Paul’s earliest letters. Paul was concerned, as a Pastor, that he had to leave the young church in Thessalonica without established leadership. He sent Timothy back to Thessalonica to see how they were doing and discovered that they were doing very well as a body of believers. It is here that Pastor John begins his study in the book of 1st Thessalonians.
