Description: In this final study in the book of Job, the Lord finally interrupts all the miss-guided counsel and speaks to Job directly. We see The Lord put Job in his proper place of willful submission, by showing Job how small he really is. When Job compared himself to his family, his wife, or even his friends, he thought he measured up pretty well. But when he came face-to-face with the Lord it was a different story.

Description: In our last study of the book of Job (Chapters 11-14), Job had just replied to Zophar’s speech. Chapter 14 concludes the “first round” of speeches by Job’s friends. All of their speeches have ended pretty much the same with the accusation that Job is in sin and too proud to admit it! Of course, Job maintains his innocence. In Chapters 15 though 31, Zophar speaks once more and Eliphaz as well as Bildad speaks two more times! Job answers them all, and maintains his innocence! In Chapters 32 through 37, a young man by the name of Elihu speaks up because he can no longer contain himself as he listened to the others. In all of his 4 speeches, he doesn’t help Job either, but he comes a lot closer! He has some things to say about the Lord that are worth reading!

Description: In Chapter 8 of Job, Bildad the “traditionalist” tried to give Job “the wisdom of the ages” as an explanation for Job’s suffering. In Chapters 9 and 10 we see Job’s response to Bildad. Unfortunately we also see that Job has a death wish. It is interesting to note that both Elijah and Jonah also wished they were dead. And they were both running from something.

Description: How many times as Christians do we judge instead of pointing a hurting person back to the Lord? In Job’s greatest time of need we see his “friends” point the finger instead of lifting him up. Job’s response to them is very piercing. He points out that if his condition is God’s judgement for unrighteousness they may be next.
