Called to Serve

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
REACH, TEACH, MEND & SEND

Thank you for your interest in this year’s Called to Serve series.  Below are the required assignments and expectations for the class.  We want you to know that the entire staff is here to assist you if you need help.  Our study together will be intense and the assignments will require diligence to complete.  You will study hard but we are confident that your foundation of faith will be strengthened and, most importantly, you will grow closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We look forward to a great work of God as we put to practice these teachings on servant leadership.

ATTENDANCE:
It is of the utmost importance that you attend each session in the Called to Serve series.  The sessions are structured in a way that each class builds on the previous one.  To take full advantage of what Called to Serve has to offer it is important that you are able to commit to all six sessions.

CD’s (in MP3 format):
Prepare a one-page response paper, double-spaced and typed, for each “TOPIC”.  The MP3 is set up in the following order:  Ministering with Humility, Ministry Burnout, The Man God Uses (parts 1-3), Faithfulness, Requirements of Ministry, Servanthood (parts 1-3).  Your paper should reflect the highlights of each message, as well as the insights you gained from listening to the tape.  Paper should be turned in during the following class.

BOOK READINGS:
At the conclusion of the class you are to submit a written statement that you have read the following books: The Tale of Three Kinds by Gene Edwards, The Pursuit of God by A.W. Towser, Effective Prayer Life by Chuck Smith, Second by C.E. Romaine, and Calvary Chapel Distinctives by Chuck Smith.  You may read them in any order you would like.  All of these books can be purchased in the Calvary Central Bookstore for a discounted price.

FINAL PAPER:
You are to submit a 2 page (MINIMUM) response paper answering the following questions:

  1. Indicate that you have read 2 Timothy at least twice.
  2. Describe the characteristics of a servant leader found in 2 Timothy.
  3. Describe how these characteristics currently apply to your life.
  4. Describe how you will use what you learned in these classes.
